A multifaceted Serbo-Croatian artist, Manja Ristić has developed a wide-ranging and interconnected practice as a violinist, composer, poet, curator, and researcher. From the open field of improvisation to the domain of electroacoustic work, her practice brings together composition, listening, and place, with a particular focus on the use of field recordings as a means of revealing ecological, social, and political memories embedded in the landscape.
Following an initial moment of situated listening during the collaborative SHAPE+ residency in Barreiro in 2024, which led to works based on recordings made there (later gathered on the notable album Lisboa, released earlier this year), she now returns to develop a new piece from the city’s sound archive and through a delicate immersion in its territory, continuing a line of work that OUT.FEST has been steadily deepening.
