A true eminence of exploratory music, ∈Y∋, aka Yamantaka Eye, has, since the mid-1980s, been one of Japan’s most legendary agitators and visionaries: from the mythic, destructive days of Hanatarash to steering Boredoms through their many metamorphoses, from provocative dadaism to trance punk, alongside an idiosyncratic path as a DJ and visual artist and collaborations with names such as John Zorn or projects like Painkiller — it is impossible to account for it all here.
He arrives — finally! — at OUT.FEST, appearing alongside C.O.L.O., creator of Cosmic Lab, whose immersive audiovisual work operates within an unstable terrain where perception and matter are constantly reconfigured, and who has collaborated with Jeff Mills on “THE TRIP” and with ∈Y∋ himself on “FINALBY()”. A cybernetic and futuristic hybrid, this is not a DJ set, not a concert, not just an A/V show: it is a hypersensory barrage in full discharge, opening onto one of those futures no one saw coming.
